Today is our 5 days of the 2010-2011 school year. It is also the 3rd day in a row of school AND early morning band for me. My 3rd day of no planning period...no break to rest my brain...no pausing to catch my breath...and I am beyond tired today.
Other teachers are feeling it to today. We talked about it at lunch and we all agreed that we understand what the kids are saying. Today is rough!
Only 1 more class to go...Ill make it through.

New Phone!
This weekend I was playing with my new phone...thinking how I have had it for a week and I'm still finding new things it can do...and I realized I never posted anything about getting it!
Here it is!!! My mom bought it for me for an early Birthday present. Thanks Mom!

The New Blackberry Torch! With full touch screen and slide out keyboard! I LOVE IT!!! Another thing I love...the case I got is purple, my favorite color!
This weekend I was looking at some of the applications it has on it and I found one that shows me where the closest Starbucks is to where I am! I mean really....that's all I need!

5QF
1. Do you have and nicknames and if so how did it come about? My family has always called me Sonnie (short o sound, not like sunny) and I'm really not sure why. When I was little my dad and I use to watch Ron's Big Ol' Fish and around that time he started calling me Son Fish (again, short o sound, not like sun). But, that's about all when it comes to nicknames for me. I do love hearing Caleb and Sarah call me Aunt Sonnie....very cute!
Or even Richard Gere!
2. What is your birth order amongst your siblings? I am the second child and the baby of the family! There is a big age gap between me and my sister, 6 years, so I am not sure how that plays into the birth order character traits thing.
3. In a movie of your life, who would play your significant other? Ooooo....Probably a young Harrison Ford, very strong and smart.
Or even Richard Gere!
I think those men remind me of Chris the most. Now, Patrick Dempsey would work as well, because he has that Prince Charming factor that Chris also has.
4. What is currently your favorite song? Jar of Hearts by Christina Perry. I wrote a post about it a few weeks ago. Its amazing...
5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase? Yes I am...I am saving up for a car!!! Next fall is when I am hoping to get my first "big kid" car. I am really wanting a Mazda 3!

Day One...Year Two...Finished!
The first day always has so much excitement and anticipation leading up to it. But to be honest, it is the most boring day of the entire school year.
By 3rd hour students are tired of hearing their teachers talk about rules and expectation and class room procedures...and by 3rd hour the teachers are tired of saying it. Repeating the same things over and over again, 6 times, is the most exhausting thing as a teacher. This day, the first day of school, is the most boring and most tiring day of the year.
This is why I love teaching different subjects. When I was first looking for a job I remember almost applying for one that was Personal Finance only. Because of the new MO graduation requirement that school decided to add on someone who would just teach that one class. All day long. At first I thought that sounded awesome! Only having to plan for one lesson each day. But now I think...that would be the hardest job!
By the middle of the day today...I started to forget and lose track of what I had already said and what I needed to say to each class. I never have that problem in my other classes. I love teaching different classes through out the day. It makes the day go by so much faster and it is a lot more fun for me.
Anyway, the Big First Day for the 2010-2011 school year is finished. I'm looking forward to a great year. Going to go home and take a nap...then dinner...then clean up the house for this weekend. I have early band starting again tomorrow so I will have to go to bed early!

Last Day...
Today is our last day before the kids are here. This morning I came into my class room a little stressed out, feeling like I had so much to do there was no way I would get it all done by the end of the day. Yesterday, I could have finished many of my little projects but my car had a sudden leak that I was frantically trying to get fixed before the school year started. To say the least...I felt like I got nothing done in my class room yesterday.
My "To Do List" for the day started out like this:
Edit and Print Personal Finance, Basic Business, and Computer Apps I Syllabuses.
Finish Main Bulletin Board
Set out Basic Business and Computer Apps I books
Set 2nd set of Computer Apps I books on cart to take to Lab A
Hang FBLA Banner
Hand Lanterns
And there are probably tons of other little things around the room I need to do. But right now, I almost have all the BIG things finished. The things I HAVE to have done for the students tomorrow....done. So, I am feeling much better.
I guess we will see how I feel when 3 o'clock rolls around. I cant believe school starts tomorrow. This summer went by faster than ever.

5QF on Saturday....
1. Have you ever visited another country? Yes. My sophomore year of college the Pride Marching Band went to London to be the Honor Band in their New Years Day Parade. We were there for a week and played in a lot of different places. It was also the very first time I had ever been on a plane.
2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been? I really don't think I have ever been to a strange place. Maybe it is because I am a little strange...so most places seem pretty normal.
3. What is your favorite season? Summer. No question about it. I love the warm weather and all the sun! I also get to work with a lot of different color guards during the summer which is always a great time.
4. What one song will always cheer you up? That is hard. Any up beat and cheerful song will have that effect on me.
5. What Disney character do you resemble most? I would have to say Bell! Which is also my favorite Disney Princess because she was the "smart one."
