Pics of the House

Its time for me to show you pics of the house. Some of my favorite things about the house are the things that make it the most over whelming to decorate and pick wall colors for. So I am welcoming ideas for wall color or anything else that comes to mind when you see these pics.

Lets start with the Living Room!

One wall has these huge windows. they let in a LOT of natural light....and don't have any curtains on them (yet). Another thing you can tell by this pic is the massive vaulted ceilings. I was excited about my vaulted (10 or 12 ft) ceilings down in Springfield, but these ceilings Chris says are probably 15 feet high. WOW!!!

The next wall in the Living Room is the wall with he Fire Place. Chris hates the Fire Place but I love that there is one in the house. However, a few people who have been in the house a couple times didn't even know the place had a Fire Place! So, Id like to make it a little bit more of a focal point! I suggested painting the wood white (with the idea that the walls would have a color on them) and Chris doesn't like the idea of painting over the "real wood" which I don't get. Anyway, here is the Fire Place Wall.

Next is the wall with the TV on it. We like that the TV and all the media is Black! We need a wall color that will go with that.

Ok, so another thing I like about the house is the fact that you can see the Dinning Room from the Living Room and vice versa! But, that also makes me nervous. Whatever we paint the Living Room we might need to paint the Dinning Room the same thing....or at least something that matches VERY well. Just something else to consider!!!

Another thing you can see from the Living Room is the Entry Way. Not sure if this should be the same color as the Living Room or not. I obviously don't want to many different colors in this area of the house but I worry if everything is the same it will be a little.....either boring or to bold!

Here is another look at the Entry Way from the Dinning Room. So, as you can see...the wall goes right up against the Living Room wall that has all the windows.

Lets move on from the Living Room and show the Dinning Room and Kitchen!

Here is the Dinning Room. You can see the ceiling has a nice look to it....

There is a big sliding glass door on one wall.

And here is the Kitchen!!!

I don't like the color of the Cabinets.....I would be ok with painting them too......not sure how Chris feels about that.

And lastly, you can see that the Hall Way is right off the Dinning Room...

Its a BIG house which is what makes me nervous to paint. We need something that keeps the house looking big and airy but I really want there to be a visual change!

I welcome suggestions!!!

Now in KC....Independence actually...

Well, I have now been living in KC (actually Independence) for over a week now. Chris and I moved almost all my stuff up here on Memorial Day and I have been slowly but surely unpacking since then.

Chris has been great! Rearranging his stuff to make room for me and my stuff. It is getting a little tedious...but the last couple days the place has felt almost back to normal! With some small girly touches. Yea!

The biggest thing right now is trying to decorate the place. Chris isn't really big on all that so as you can guess there are quite a few walls with no paint on them.....well, there is paint, just the original yucky cream color paint. It must GO! : )

One problem.....well, not a problem....just something to take into consideration...

Chris really likes having some input in the decorating process. I think it is sweet, but we really do have different tastes and finding middle ground is proving difficult. I would say his style is very contemporary and industrial and very GUY.....while my style would be sophisticated/luxurious and inviting and feminine.

SO!

I decided I will be blogging about the process so I can have anyone and everyone give their 2 cents! The house, I think, is a wonderful house but has some things to consider when thinking of wall colors and stuff like that!

Please! Please! Please! If you have any friends with good stying ideas, point them to my blog so they can make some suggestions. I will be posting pics SOON of the living room, dinning room, and kitchen. Its a BIG area that all links together and will need some MAJOR color coordinating ideas.

Thanks!

Leaving.....

I wasn't really sure when it was actually going to hit me that I was leaving Willard. I've known since mid March that I wasn't coming back due to the department "downsizing".....and there were thoughts of me moving to KC before that even. But, even then I don't think it actually sunk in that I was going to be leaving my very first class room....my first "big kid job!"

This morning during my planning period I started (finally) boxing up all MY stuff. It was much harder than I thought. My desk is now all cleared out and my closet is almost empty. The last thing to go will be my decorative stuff...my round colorful paper lanterns that I LOVE.....I just cant bear to see the room all plane yet.

But right now 2 boxes are filled....sitting in the back of my class room. I got pretty emotional when I closed up that second box and set it next to the other. This is much harder than I thought it was going to be!

Because I am SO excited to move up to KC and start a new life and be with an amazing man, I thought leaving Willard would be just something that happened in the process. But, its more than that...

Today was a sad day for me.....

Only 4 and 1/2 days of school left......

Then my first job is over.....

New Dishes

In an earlier post I mentioned how it is official that I'm moving to KC and will be living with my wonderful boyfriend. Well, over the past few weeks there has had to be a lot of planning for the move. I have been overwhelmed at times, but it has to be done. The move IS happening and it is happening SOON!

We have to get my stuff up to his place. So, Memorial Day Weekend we plan on moving all my stuff to his house. His brother is driving his SUV and Chris will drive a truck he is borrowing for the weekend. Lots of stuff to put in those 2 vehicles in a short amount of time!

We have to see what stuff of his he needs to get ride of to make room for my stuff. The big things would be his bedroom furniture....he is moving all that out to make room for my new bed room furniture (that he helped pick out...so he doesn't mind). Also, the living room has an Entertainment Unit that wont fit my TV. So, he has to move that out and make room for my (bigger) TV. Again, I bet he isn't to sad about that. And that means the TV originally in the living room will now go in the bedroom. Major upgrade on the bedroom TV I'd say!

We also have been discussing what we both don't really have that we might need. A few of those things are Kitchen items. We are hoping to eat at home a little more and have people over so we kinda need to give the Kitchen some attention. One thing Chris mentioned was maybe needing more dishes. Well, last night I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and saw these!!!

I LOVE the ones with the red berries....and really like the other ones too, but I think the pop of red makes the berry ones my favorite. But, you guessed it....Chris doesn't like them. : ( He doesn't hate them, though! So maybe Ill be able to work him down into saying "OK" to the dishes. We will see. I guess this is just one glimpse of what it will be like to live with a significant other!

What my boyfriend will do!!!

As most of you know...Chris will do just about anything to make me happy. He is really a "Knight in Shining Armor" for me. It blows me away sometimes when he does crazy things just to make me happy or help me in some way.

The most resent being.....

My dryer went out a few weeks ago. He has a dryer down in his basement that he doesn't use (don't ask my way he has it...I just knew he did) but wasn't sure how he could get it down here. Well, then Tabi (my cousin that goes to school down here at MSU) tells me she has a dryer that she could bring over when she moved out her stuff during Finals Week. We thought we were covered and Chris wouldn't have to worry about bringing his dryer down here.

Well.....

Then Thursday night Tabi all of a sudden tells me her room mates want her to keep the dryer in the apartment over the summer while she is gone and so she wouldn't be bringing it over to my place.

What was I going to do now?!?!?!?!

I was on the phone with Chris when I got the text...and I was really upset. I hadn't done laundry (except the laundry my mom did for me...Thanks Mom!) for weeks. I had a huge pile of dirty cloths that I had been waiting to do because I thought I would have a dryer by the weekend. And now I wouldn't. And now I potentially was going to have to BUY a dryer....which I was hoping to not have to do.

Well, I guess while we were on the phone Chris was busy planning a way to "come to my rescue" in the dryer crisis! Later that night he sent me a picture.

Seriously! The things he will do to make me happy and help me out! I love him more than anything!!!

He got in late Friday night, so we put in the dryer Saturday morning. It works great and I was able to do 2 loads of laundry this weekend. He is the best boyfriend in the WORLD. I am going to keep him for a WHILE!!!

Thanks honey!!!

The next step

My wonderful boyfriend and I have been dating now for 1 year, 4 months, and 10 days! (I don't really keep track of that....but for this post, I counted it up!) And we have decided to take the next step.

Sooooo

I am officially moving to KC sometime this summer! We have been doing this long distance thing for a while now and we just think its time to be in the same city and see if this is the "Real Thing." This actually isn't a decision that we just made....its something we have been talking about some this winter guard season...then around mid March we decided that was what we would do. Make the move!

It is exciting and scary at the same time. I love him more than anything so being able to be with him more makes me VERY happy. I have people up in KC that I LOVE hanging out with. There are lots of opportunities for me up there. But.....I don't have a job yet. Like a REAL job. So, that is scary.

Ill keep looking and hopefully something opens up for me that is the right fit. Wish me luck! This is kinda a big deal......

Last 5QF for April!

I feel bad that all I have been able to do on here are the 5QFs.....but at least I'm doing that. I hope to have more time here soon to post more often.

Here it goes....

1. If you could buy any car, money not an option, what would it be?

I'm not really a car person. I guess if money was not an option then I would just buy a NEW car instead of a used one. Other than that....the type doesn't matter all that much. There are a few that I like the looks of a Mazda 3 hatch back or a Lexus RX SUV. I know the Lexus is much more money than the Mazda....so for the sake of this question, let go with that one!

Lexus RX 2011 SUV

2. What was your worst first date ever?

Honestly, I haven't been on very many first dates. And the first dates I have been on....I already knew the person.

I guess the worst one, if I had to pick, would be the date I went on with an old High School crush when I was in college. He was one of the Valedictorian of our Senior class and I thought he was not only smart but very hot! He was not the social person I was....but I thought I could break him out of his shell. I guess I was wrong. He seemed to have no interest in talking in a 2 sided conversation. Everything was about him and when I mentioned something I liked he was not interested in continuing the conversation.

So, not really fun.

3. How old where you when you fell in love for the first time?

My first significant boyfriend started the summer before my Sophomore year of high school. I fell hard and fast for him. He was everything I thought I could ever want. And....even now I can say he was a great guy. Funny enough, my boyfriend now.....my family says reminds them of him. I think I can see it. But anyway, I was 16 when I first fell in love.

4. When was the last time you reconciled your checkbook?

I don't know if I have ever actually done that. I have seen my mom reconcile hers....and I know HOW to. But I never do it. Does that make me a bad Personal Finance Teacher? I teach it but I don't do it......

5. If you were going to fashion a "Wanted" ad for a best friend, how would you word it?

Because I am moving....and leaving my best friend behind.....my wanted ad would be very simple:

I Miss You Laurissa!

These were kinda hard this time....
