Giving Up

I decided to give up energy drinks for Lent this year. Even though I am not Catholic, I still think that you should not be so dependent on something that you cant live without it for 40 days. So, I always participate in Lent in my own way. This year, its giving up energy drinks.

Last year it was Starbucks as well as meat on Friday. Giving up Starbucks was good in more than one way. First because I am very much in love with Starbucks lattes....probably to much....and I was getting one every morning. That was $5 a day and 5 or 6 times a week. I probably ended up saving around $200 over that period of time. Good for my body and good for my checking account.

Giving up Energy Drinks for Lent this year is had a double purpose for me. First of all, I think I am far to dependent on them to get me through the day. Second, I would really like to lose 10 lbs by MCCGA Championships and cutting out 400 (and sometimes 800 if I have 2) calories from my day would really help.

I started on Sunday with the No Energy Drinks Rule, so today is day 5. I really miss them! Its sad I know, but I do. I hope I can make it till Easter.....

  1. Other denominations give up things for Lent. I've never really studied or figured out why some churches practice this and some do not. I think I'll have to look up info on it! ;o)
