I fortunately work at a school that received a full 2 weeks of Christmas vacation. While other schools were in session on the Monday, Tuesday, and some even on the Wednesday before Christmas I was on break already. Even with the full 2 weeks part of me wasn't ready to get back into the swing of thing. Having 4 solid days of winter guard and spending 11 hours driving in a car, I wanted and needed a day off before school started again. When the snow came on Sunday I welcomed the snow day that Monday...our first day back from break. But then more snow came Wednesday evening and we were called off of school again for Thursday and Friday.
Let me tell you, it is nice to be back at school. There were so many things I could have done while home on my snow days, but did I? No! I curled up on my couch with Phoebe and Leo and watched movies and season 7 of Friends. A relaxing and wonderful couple days, but very unproductive days.
Why is it that I get far more done when I have to get up at 5 in the morning and go through an entire day of work (with winter guard before and after school) then when I have 1, 2, or even 3 days off? I mean, I could have done my laundry, but instead I will be doing that tonight. I could have made my lesson plans for the next couple weeks or finally add my new rosters to my grade book. Ill be staying after school to do both those things today when I could have done them last week at home.
It is a mystery to me!
